Frequently Asked Roofing Questions

For many homeowners or business owners, roof installations or replacements may be a one-time purchase, so they may not be too familiar with the roofing process or as excited as a bath remodel. If you need more details about roofing than what's provided below, please contact us and we'll be happy to answer any roofing questions.

How do I know if I need a new roof?

Here are a few signs you may need a new roof:

  • Roof Leaks
  • Cracked or Discolored Interior Ceiling or Walls
  • Decaying, Curling, or Missing Shingles
  • Broken or Damaged Shingles
  • Loss of Asphalt Granulation
  • A Roof Over 15 Years Old
Roof shingles and wood shakes usually have a 15 to 30 year lifespan depending on the quality of the installation and the shingles themselves, the location of the home, and tree coverage. Catching any of the roof warning signs early can help prevent expensive repairs in the future.

How much does a new roof cost?

There are several things to determine the cost of a roof:

Will I have to replace my gutters and downspouts at the same time as my roof replacement?

No. Our roofers will work around your gutters and downspouts if they are in good shape.

How long will it take to install a new roof?

Typically, Alpha Roofing Inc. completes a new roof installation in 3 or 4 days. This includes everything from removing the old roof to clean up after installation. Various factors contribute to the length of time for completion, including weather and how many layers of roof to remove.

Is there anything I should do before the roofing project starts?

You can do any of the following to minimize the hassle of the roofing process:

  • To avoid the loud noise of removing the old roof, you can go out for 2 to 3 hours. Consider taking your pets out as well.
  • Keep your cars parked in the street, instead of the driveway or garage.
  • Cover your swimming pool with a pool cover. If you don't have a pool cover, we can cover it with a tarp.
